The High Li(f)e

I finally made it out to the high-line! A must-see on the lower-west side of NYC, the high-line is a park that sits on abandoned train tracks raised above the city. As it loops between buildings and above roofs, it is an awesome place to mosey around and check out the sights of the city. Since its located in the chic Chelsea/meat-packing district, I had to wear my new Tibi leopard blazer- let's face it, it chic-ifys everything, right? To keep cool, I wore my favorite denim cut-offs and a slouchy gray tank, which definitely work for the laid-back feel of the lower west side (and a jaunt through an abandoned train-track/park). To finish off, my new favorite Zara caryall is perfect for toting around a book, and a pair of comfy (but cool) booties is perfect for toting around yourself!

How to Not Wear Sweats During a Breakup

When you have just broken up with someone (or someone has just broken up with you), you lose your motivation to dress up. You want to sit around the house, eat ice-cream, and wallow in your sweatsuit. However, these 3 effortless looks will get you through the breakup with your sartorial dignity intact. Just throw them on, look cute, and move on.

1. Retail Therapy
Sometimes, the best way to get through a breakup is to distract yourself with shopping. A great pair of printed jeans are an easy statement piece that scream "style" even when you throw on a basic tee and nude sandals. A cool carryall is an effortless way to finish the look.

2. Rebound Therapy
Ok, so fresh off of a painful breakup, you may not be able to hit the singles scene quite yet. But, when enjoying a couple drinks while out with the girls, you don't want to look like a slob, either. A casual t-shirt dress is comfy and fuss-free, while a basic pair of black sandals and a nice black bag keep you looking ready for action.

3. Rental Therapy
Sometimes a night in with your girlfriends and some chick-flicks in the best way to get through a break-up. While PJs would definitely suffice for the occasion, a soft printed romper and a pair of beat-up booties would do the trick.

Hardcore Days and Softcore Nights

I realized I haven't done a fun day-to-night post, so here it is in the form of a classic pair of white skinny jeans and a feminine yet trendy yellow top. Both items are perfect for some chic summer style! I recently acquired this denim vest via Amanda Hearst- yes, as in William Randolph (and yes it is an odd, long story)- and love the way it gives this put together combo a little bit of subtle edge (not everything needs black leather and studs), without taking over the whole outfit. The casual pair of booties are always a good call.

For night, the formula is simple: throw on a blazer, gold sandals, and an incredibly cool patterned clutch and voila!

Inspiration From This Summer's Leading Ladies: Anne Hathaway

As part two of my summer inspiration series, I am focusing on Anne Hathaway and her glamourous gamine style. As Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, Anne is sexy and ferocious. But,in real life, her style is feminine and delicate. Check out the ways I interpret her great premiere style into everyday summer style!

Sometimes I'm just inspired to just throw on a few random pieces of clothing and see what happens- this was one of those days. I ended up really liking the blue and white striped top with the simple orange, cropped pants; the colors really pop against each other. As for the shoes- when in doubt, grab some leopard flats, right? Oh, and I've gotta keep myself protected with my favorite spiky necklace. What do you think?

Inspiration From This Summer's Leading Ladies: Emma Stone

This summer is full of fun, blockbuster movies and amazing red-carpet moments provided to us by their A-List stars. The always-stylish Emma Stone, starring in The Amazing Spider-Man, has had her fair share of standout style moments this summer. See below to find out how to adapt Emma's streamlined look for the summer months!

SPOTTED: Lindsay S., my best friend and summer roomie, strolling in Washington Square Park looking like a native West Village resident. With the tribal patterned top, summer-appropriate red shorts, Isabel-Marant-style booties, brown fedora, and beloved flowers, Lindsay embodies the casual, effortless, boho/Soho, nature-loving chic that even the natives strive to achieve. Well done, Linds.

The Season of the Pep!

Pants: Zara (old, similar here), Top: H&M (old, similar here and here), Shoes: Sam Edelman, Jacket: Leith (old, similar here), Clutch: Marc Jacobs

"It's the season of the pep!" A phrase that was said to me by Miss Ashley Afriyie- aka Nina Garcia's assistant at Marie Claire- when she saw me in this outfit; and let me tell you, truer words have never been spoken. Spring, summer, and fall 2012 are all the seasons of the peplum. They flatter you at your tiniest part (at the waist), look good with almost anything, and give you a flirty little bit of fabric to mimic an hourglass shape. Basically, the lesson here is trust in the pep!

Comic-Con: Not Just For Nerds

An event once attended by hordes of comic book nerds, comic con 2012 is now one of the go-to entertainment events of the year. Die-hard movie and tv fans can mingle with their favorite celebs, find out about upcoming films and seasons, and soak up the awesome celebrity style. Check out my favorite trend that has been taking over this surprisingly chic event: a p.o.c. (pop of color for you Brad Goreski fans) in the s.h.o.e.s.

Jacket: Leith (old, similar here), Top: Rag & Bone, Skirt: Alice & Olivia, Booties: Ash (old, similar here), Necklace: H&M, similar here, Clutch: Marc Jacobs (old, similar here)

Don't be fooled by my uncomfortable expression in these pictures; this is one of the MOST comfortable outfits. Of. All. Time. An outfit that can be considered both fall fashion and spring fashion, this comfy-cute look can also transition from day to night. The leather jacket by Leith is so buttery and yummy, I would sleep in it. The red pleated Alice & Olivia skirt is as easy and breezy as can be. Rag & Bone delivers another fabulous piece with this flowy blouse, and my ASH booties are soft and suede that, heel or no heel, I can walk in them alll daayy looonngg.

The Fit-And-Flare

Girly, but sophisticated. Classic, but fun. Dressy, but casual. This is the magic of the fit-and-flare dress. A look that has recently become quite a trend, the fit-and-flare is being embraced by designers and celebrities alike. I love the dress as its an easy, go-to look that is instantly cool, trendy, girly, and fun!
Recently, some stylish celebs have stepped out wearing the flattering style. Who do you think wears it best? My favorites include:

                            Ashley Greene:                                 Diane Kruger:
