Packing For a Fraternity Formal

I'm spending this weekend in Kansas City for my boyfriend's fraternity formal. Formal weekends are packed with dinners, parties, clubs, and other events. Basically, it is easy to overpack; but, no one wants to be the girl who brings a suitcase bigger than her...for a 2-day trip. So, how does a fashionista who is itching to wear all her new spring clothing pack lighter?

1. Streamline Jewelry:
Bring a few pieces of jewelry that you can mix and match, and dress up and down, for different looks. By mixing and matching, each look can still seem fresh and new, but you don't have to bring your whole jewelry box.

2. Pick your favorite shoes and bags:
Bring a couple pairs of shoes that you can dress up or down- a pair of heeled booties is great for a more casual going-out look. Paired with denim shorts, they can work great for an afternoon exploring the city. A pair of nude flats can work with anything, and are a comfortable alternative for any outfit. One pair of fancy heels is plenty- keep them simple so you could wear them with multiple outfits.

3. Be prepared:
Despite the seemingly dependable weather report that you check while packing, you really never know how warm or cold it will be until you get there. Pack clothes that you can mix and match depending on the weather.

Wear the Bralette Look 2 Ways

Every season, there seems to be some sort of "underwear is outerwear" trend; in the past, we've seen loungewear, lingerie style tops and shorts, and the no-pants look. Most of these looks, when I come to think about it, have come to us via Dolce & Gabbana

Its difficult to maintain the balance between fashionable and appropriate, and so wearing your bra as a top may not always be the easiest task. So, to avoid the slutty route, its good to go the sporty route (O, I'm just wearing a sport's bra, as if I'm going to work out) and the ladylike route (It's ok that I'm wearing a bra as a top, because don't I just look so lovely?)

Styleta Photoshoot @ Saks

In addition to our beauty photoshoot, Styleta recently did a photoshoot at Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis! We got access to their entire contemporary department, handbags, shoe department, and some accessories. We are using this photoshoot to advertise for an upcoming shopping event at Saks, so we wanted to portray shopping chaos!

Our shopper (model Selena Lane) gluttonously indulged herself in Saks's amazing clothes, while her boyfriend (model Mike Kastelein) and the salesgirl (model Sarah Ettinger) became victims to her shopping madness.

Beauty Photoshoot

Styleta, the non-profit organization that I am apart of on the Washington University campus, held its first ever beauty photoshoot a few weeks ago. The photoshoot will provide a lookbook for a new hair and make-up service we are providing. What do you think of the hair and make-up?
