I've spent a good deal of my summer stalking music festival pictures and imagining what I would be wearing if I was there. Unfortunately, having an unpaid internship doesn't exactly provide the means necessary to attend one of these lovely outdoor fests: transportation, tickets, and food costs together exceed my summer budget. However, that being said, I decided to put together an outfit as if I was going to San Francisco's Outsidelands this weekend (and for inspiration for any of you that may be going), just for fun.
Please excuse the weird facial expressions- I don't have Tyra Banks's ability to simultaneously smile/look normal while staring into the sun. Also, I tried to strike the balance in my outfit between a hipster festival look and a chic and pulled together ensemble.
Last year when I went to Outsidelands, it was much colder than the consistently hotter-than-hell San Fernando Valley. I added this cool crochet vest that my mom got for me while in Estonia- if it gets really chilly, it can double as a blanket!
Mixing this trendy crochet top with these great lace shorts adds some texture and interest to two black pieces. They're also totally appropriate for raging all day.
When attending an outdoor festival, I recommend wearing a pair of summery booties. They're not too hot, but they help to avoid the pain of being stepped on and make sure your feet don't get too dirty from the dirt/grass/beer that the ground is covered in.
